Multiple Scarecrow
Themed Display:
Congratulations to the Buckhorn Daycare and Nursery School.
Their display of children at play was wonderful and they were awarded
first prize ($100) by our judges:
Three other displays received honourable mention and each awarded a $35
runner-up prize. Congratulations to:

Traditional Scarecrow Display:
Congratulations to Waterfront Interiors, the winner of the $100 prize
for best Traditional Scarecrow Display - a woman choosing fabric for
her chair:
Viewer's Choice:
The winner of
the $100 prize for the favourite display of all, as voted by our
viewers, was Donna Gillespie's depiction of the havoc that can result
when the babysitter falls asleep. Congratulations Donna!
And finally, congratulations
to Judy Staszak, winner of the $100 restaurat gift certificate,
when her entry was drawn from all those who submitted votes for
the Viewer's Choice Award.
Contest
Categories
and Prizes:
Multiple Scarecrow Themed
Displays: These displays must include at least 4
scarecrows depicting an event or theme - like the golf tournament that
was created by Gloria and Wayne Shearer. The winner in this
category will be awarded $200! Traditional:
These displays must include at least 2 scarecrows that resemble ones
that have been in fields and gardens for centuries. The
creator of the best traditional display will win $100!
Non-Traditional:
These displays must also include at least 2 scarecrows, but made from
non-traditional materials such as tin, wire,
hub caps, cans, sticks, bricks, etc. The creator of the best
non-traditional display will win $100!
The above categories will be judged by an impartial panel
sometime during the event. In order to be judged, each category must
have a minimum of 3 entries.
Viewers' Choice:
Again this year, residents and visitors to the area will drive
around and vote for their favourite scarecrow display. If your display
receives the most votes, you will win $100!
Contest Rules:
Registration:
Scarecrow displays must be registered with Colours 'n 'Crows to be
eligible to win the prizes. A registration form can be mailed, faxed or
dropped off at the Buckhorn Community Centre (see contact information
below). You must register for a particular category by September 11,
2009. Registration Forms can be obtained from the Buckhorn Community
Centre or printed from the bottom of this page.
Set-up:
Scarecrows must be set up by Wednesday, September 23rd and displayed
until
Monday, October 12th. Someone will be checking to see if displays are
up. <>If
for some reason
you are unable to get your display completed, please notify us so that
we can take you off the rally sheet. We do not want to disappoint
visitors.
Scarecrows must be in
good taste and able to withstand the weather. Periodic checks of your
display are recommended.
Viewers' Choice and
other winners will
be awarded Friday, October 16th.

Registration Forms to the Buckhorn Community Centre:
Drop it off at the Centre at 1801 Lakehurst Road, Buckhorn (2 km. west
of the lights at County Road 23);
