2008 Contests
Make
Your Own Scarecrow Display and Win Cash!!
Buckingham S. Crow invites you to Decorate your Home
and Enter the Contest
Local residents are
encouraged to create unique displays for the festival. The scarecrow
displays that are entered will be judged and the winners will be
awarded prize money. Unfortunately, in 2007 we did not have enough
entries
in either the Traditional or the Non-Traditional Categories to declare
winners. Hopefully, there will be more entries this year. Come
on, let's get creative!
Categories
and Prizes:
Multiple Scarecrow Themed
Displays: These displays must include at least 4
scarecrows depicting an event or theme. The winner in this
category will be awarded $200! Traditional:
These displays must include at least 2 scarecrows that resemble ones
that have been in fields and gardens for centuries. The
creator of the best traditional display will win $100!
Non-Traditional:
These displays must also include at least 2 scarecrows, but made from
non-traditional materials such as tin, wire,
hub caps, cans, sticks, bricks, etc. The creator of the best
non-traditional display will win $100!
Viewers' Choice:
Again this year, residents and visitors to the area will be given the
opportunity to vote for their favourite scarecrow display. The winner of the
Viewer's Choice will be awarded $100!
Contest Rules:
Registration:
Scarecrow displays must be registered with Colours 'n 'Crows to be
eligible to win the prizes. A registration form can be mailed, faxed or
dropped off at the Buckhorn Community Centre (see contact information
below). You must register for a particular category by September 14,
2008. Registration Forms can be obtained from the Buckhorn Community
Centre or printed from the bottom of this page.
Set-up:
Scarecrows must be set up by Friday, September 26th and displayed until
Monday, October 13th.
There must be three
entries into a category to be judged. Scarecrows must fit the category
description in order to be judged.
If for some reason
you are unable to get your display completed, please notify us so that
we can take you off the rally sheet. We do not want to disappoint
visitors.
Scarecrows must be in
good taste and able to withstand the weather. Periodic checks of your
display are recommended.
Viewers' Choice will
be awarded Wednesday, October 15th. All other winners will be announced
